February, 21st 2008: The ROLE Skillnet, a network training initiative funded by Skillnets Ltd and companies based in counties Roscommon and Leitrim was launched in The Bush Hotel Carrick -on- Shannon.
The ROLE Skillnet comprises a network of companies from across counties Roscommon and Leitrim who have come together with the support of Skillnets Ltd to address common training needs. The ‘Skillnet' system is unique in that it brings companies, often competitors together for training purposes, to the overall benefit of the wider economy.
Skillnets Ltd, the state sponsored body, dedicated to the promotion and facilitation of enterprise-led training networks, has approved €440,000 in funding to the ROLE Skillnet in support of their training programme for 2008-2009. Skillnets Ltd is funded by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and has a total fund of €55 million to spend on industry training initiatives between 2005 -2010. In 2006/2007 Skillnets Ltd provided a total of €16 million in funding to 54 Skillnet training networks across the country. Over 120 training networks have been funded for the peirod 2008/2009
